A dagger through the skull — not defeat, but defiance.
This symbol is old. Sailors wore it as a mark of courage, a willingness to face danger without flinching. In traditional tattoo art, the skull and dagger speaks of mortality accepted, not feared. It says: I know the risks. I go anyway.
Some see protection here — the blade that wards off what shouldn't come close. Others see transformation — the death of an old self, pierced through so something new can emerge. The skull endures. The dagger made it sharper.
This pendant is carved from silver maple (Acer saccharinum) — pale, creamy tones with a subtle shimmer that catches the light. Lighter than its cousins, with a soft glow that feels almost otherworldly. The finish is natural tung oil, pressed from the seeds of the tung tree. It soaks into the grain, protecting the wood from moisture while bringing out its gentle sheen. No lacquer, no plastic coating — just wood and oil, the way it's been done for centuries.
