Carved from wengé (Millettia laurentii)—a rare African hardwood prized for its deep chocolate-brown to near-black color and dramatic grain patterns. The layered carving creates texture in the wolf's fur, with the grain adding natural depth and movement. Wengé is dense and durable, aging to an even richer darkness over time. Finished with tung oil that deepens the wood's striking tones and protects it while allowing natural aging.
