Death (XIII)
In the Tarot, Death isn't the card to fear. It's the card that frees you.
Not literal death—transformation. The kind that requires something to end before anything new can begin. The old job, the old relationship, the old version of yourself that's been holding you back. Death says: let it go. Make space. What's trying to be born can't fit in the room you're clinging to.
This card appears when you're being asked to release what no longer serves. When the universe is nudging you toward change and you're resisting because change is terrifying and familiar pain feels safer than unknown possibility.
But the skull knows: nothing grows in stagnant soil. You have to clear the ground. Burn the old growth. Trust that what comes next will be better than what you're afraid to lose.
For the ones in transition. The changers. The ones brave enough to let one chapter close so another can begin.
Carved from dark walnut (Juglans nigra)—a prized hardwood known for its rich chocolate-brown tones and natural color variation that creates depth from lighter sapwood to darker heartwood. Walnut itself transforms over time, darkening and deepening with age. The tung oil finish brings out the wood's warm color and protects it while allowing natural aging and evolution.
